Tinned? copper-alloy shield-on-tongue buckle and plate

Bronze buckle and plate, total length 6.25cm. Compressed oval loop, steeply curving with concave underside, attached to plate by pair of hinge-lugs interlocking with hinge-lugs on plate with lug or loop on underside of tongue-plate, and bolted together with iron pin now heavily oxidised. Tongue has large shield on back. Triangular plate with semicircular lobes near upper angles and lobe at foot - back hollowed and originally affixed to belt by means of 3 lugs which will have gone through slits in the leather and been affixed by pins, or else by stitching. Upper surfaces of buckle, tongue and plate have been tinned to simulate silver. Punch decoration around shield-on-tongue and round edges of plate except for lobes. Two patterns used: on outer edges a double angular punch producing an angular 'B'; inside this shield shaped cross-hatched punch - both applied in dense rows. May once have had mock domed rivet heads on lobes, but no trace of them and tinning continuous.
