Pair of bronze box-hinges, not perfectly identical but similar. a) Max. length 5.7cm. Consists of pair of sheet bronze plates, each basically rectangular but with projecting lobs, each chisel cut to permit the plate being folded around an iron hinge-bar with mobility. On one side the original hinge attachment has broken and a new plate has been fitted to the tab of the old, or a tab fitted to attach the old plate by an iron rivet. The normal overlap at back is a broad rectangle, attached by bronze rivet. Rivet holes in centre of each lobe, bronze rivets. Traces of wood on back, grain running parallel with hinge.b) Max. length 6 cm. A narrower and thinner version of the above. A lobe on each side broken. Again wood grain on back parallel to hinge.
