Kentish disc brooch

Card 1: Silver-gilt circular brooch, set with shell and garnets, diam. 4.1cm. Rounded edge with 'light-and-shade' pattern, then a band of double row nielloed triangles. In centre a domed boss of white substance, stained green, and with hole in centre where once was a garnet setting. This boss encircled by beaded gilt wire. Radiating from boss are three wedge-shaped cells set with flat garnets on chequered gold foil. Between these, set towards rim , are narrower wedge-shaped cells with white stuff stained green. Flanking them are chip-carved spiral motifs, and inside them parallel ridges. The spiral motifs occasionally beads with eyes and open jaws, at least one of each pair does. On back remains of iron pin attached to bronze lug and catch.Card 2: Circular fibulaCard 3: Circular fibular - with ? garnets, diam. 4 cm. Central setting missing.
