Spear or javelin head, length 19cm. Short square-sectioned blade, and split socket. Vertically placed in grave.X-ray no. 33. Negative.Possibly late Roman. Parallel at Furfooz, df. fig. 18, J.15. Charnay, Burgundy - H. Baudot, 'Sépultures des barbares en Bourgoyne', Commission des Antiquité du département de la Côte d'Or V (1857-60), pl. ii, 10. cf. also a similar eg. from Harwell, Joan Kirk etc. Oxoniensia XXI (1956), p 28, fig. 10.b, grave 1.According to Payne 1892a, 37, Catalogue no. 920 is a 'Spike, quadrilateral, length 7.5 in'. – B.B.
