online resource

Tip of iron blade, length 3.9cm, evidently a knife because one side of blade thicker than other as can be seen in section. Encased in a sheath of fine grained wood, grain running longitudinally. Originally this blade was about 12.5cm long. It had a mouthpiece to its scabbard made of a rectangular strip of doubled bronze, with four grooves running at right-angles to blade on upper surface only: underside plain and doubled under. Tang of blade apparently broken off in excavation.
