Gold and mosaic glass pendant, length with loop 3.5cm. The oval central setting consists of a mosaic of millefiori squares bonded by yellow enamel - the squares being of three kinds: pale jade green and white (pretty regular); pale and mid-blue and white (pretty regular); and darker blue with irregular pinkish translucent chips (perhaps a copy using garnet chips in blue enamel), set cold. The whole is enclosed in a frame of irregular bronze cloisons, roughly rectangular, set with sliced garnets on chequered foil (gold) above whitish paste . Some garnets missing. The whole has been given a backplate of very thin gold (reddish coloured and perhaps alloyed with copper) which projects slightly beyond the edge of the setting, and in finished with a fine beaded wire, inside this are two beaded wires spirally twisted rather loosely and sweated on to give an ornamental border, and inside again another plain beaded wire cradles the base of the thin and flimsy gold collar which encloses the whole central setting. The stout loop with beaded wires (thick) down middle and sides, the centre one flanked by thinner beaded wires is clipped over at front and projects a little down back, the central wire making an ornamental projection. This pendant is damaged, with the loss of some garnets, the backplate worn and torn in one place, and the loop shows signs of wear; beading worn.Lab results: AuAgCuBack53443Loop49483
