Glass bead mounted on gold wire

online resource
posted on 2021-10-27, 07:45 authored by Helena HamerowHelena Hamerow
Translucent mid-blue ring-bead with irregular marvered white mottling, suspended on a complicated loop of twisted gold wire. One gold wire forms the loop around the bead: doubled and ends passed through loop at front, then divided and carried up to be twisted into a spiral coil, ends meeting in the middle of coil, then twisted together and brought down through centre of loop, where separated again and ends twisted separately around each upward wire leading to coil. The thread of the necklace would have been passed through the spiral coil, so the bead would have formed a pendant.
