Glass bead

online resource
posted on 2021-10-27, 07:45 authored by Helena HamerowHelena Hamerow
Nearly cylindrical hexagonal polychrome bead, 1.5cm. long. Badly damaged and heavily restored with plaster and paint so original design hard to detect. The body appears to be white, though just possibly deep red, but the ends are of gilded colourless glass and the body appears to have had red spots interspaced between millefiori \flowers\" - a green oval with 6-leafed opaque yellow motif inside.Mayer card attributes this bead to Kingston but there is nothing like it mentioned in Kingston Down and it fits the Chartham description too well."
