Bronze hanging bowl escutcheon: length 7cm. Beater-shaped, with terminal lobe and curving bird's head hook; the escutcheon gently curved and of thin-cast bronze. The hook head may just possibly be animal rather than bird. Escutcheon slightly bent.Parallels: the Chessell Down bowl: cf. Antiquity VI (1932) pl. II.1, figure I.A; J.R.S.A. Ireland LXVI (1936), pl. XXII.1. This Sarre escutcheon published here p. 218.pl. XXI.3. The bowl is an early type, 4th-5th century probably.
