Bronze buckle, plate and counterplate, length of buckle etc. 10.3 cm, plate 6.7 cm. Originally tinned. Buckle oval, convex section, with very short bar, and two lugs at either side to join lugs on top of plate and lug on back of tongue - whole bolted by iron rod. Tongue thick, with flat shield-shaped plate in lower plane. Plate triangular with expansions at top sides and bottom for missing rivets with domed tops. Rivet holes at sides, fragmentary rivet at bottom. These probably served only to secure ornamental stud, because the whole attached to belt by 3 pierced lugs. Back of plate hollow. Counterplate identical except for nick at centre top where it fitted against tongue presumably, though too small.
