Copper-alloy buckle plate

Fragment of bronze buckle plate of Frankish type, broken in antiquity. It has a guilloche pattern border in shallow carving, a band of paired semicircles with dots in middle, and a central motif with four lobes arranged in cross pattern. Much of surface covered by a stippling of punched dots. The surviving corner has on pierced lug at top where it hinged with buckle, and a second pierced lug behind where it was pushed through belt and sewn of bolted in position.
