online resource
posted on 2021-10-26, 15:07 authored by Helena HamerowHelena Hamerow
Bronze mirror, damaged by workmen in grave. It has convex reflector, originally polished on convex side, flat side rougher. The reflector roughly circular, diam. c. 11.6cm, but at lower edge where handle fitted on it seems to have been shaped somewhat...this part damaged not only by workmen but by corrosion and cleaning. The handle, now detached, has at top a projecting holder for reflector, which may have been soldered on - no rivets, and no groove now visible. Length 11 cm, it has long and short bead and reel mouldings, round sectioned, and is fatter in middle, tapering at bottom end to small acorn tip.
